Conduct a cleanup at Beer Can Beach! As the weather improves, and our local youth are finishing up with school for the year, more and more folks are heading out to the beaches – which unfortunately means more trash.

At this time, all beaches in Santa Cruz County are still closed from 11am-5pm, therefore we request that Sanctuary Stewards to finish up their cleanups and exit the beach by 11am.

Additionally, we ask that you abide by the following guidelines to keep yourself and those close to you safe and healthy:
Do not invite other people that you have not been quarantining with to join you.
Maintain a social distance of at least 6ft from everyone you may encounter at the beach or outdoors.
Avoid touching any surfaces (railings, doorknobs, etc.) you encounter while out and about.
Avoid touching your face.
Use disposable gloves and throw them away immediately after use. Alternatively, if you use reusable gloves, take them off immediately after use and place them in a plastic bag for at least one week before handling them again to wash. To properly remove gloves, grab the bottom part of the glove near your wrist, and pull up towards your fingers, thereby turning the glove inside out.
Wash your hands as soon as possible, and use hand sanitizer throughout if possible.
If you are sick in any way, DO NOT sign up for a cleanup.
Due to health and safety concerns, we are not able to provide you with our reusable cleanup supplies at this time. We encourage you to use disposable items such as disposable gloves and trash bags (I know it’s not zero waste but it helps prevent the spread of germs!).

*Guidelines can change rapidly – please follow those most current from local, State, and Federal officials*
