Labor Day is time to hit the beach and engage beach visitors to help reduce marine debris by encouraging people to dispose of and/or pack out their trash after enjoying their day at the beach. Our cleanup data shows that beaches where we have conducted outreach on the holiday have less trash left behind! Make an impact on our coast, ocean, and human recreation by signing up for Pollution Prevention Outreach Monday, September 6th from 11am-1pm at Sumner/Beer Can Beach this holiday!
During Pollution Prevention Outreach you will be talking to people as they arrive at the beach, pointing out where the trash receptacles are, offering trash bags if they need them, and sharing why marine debris is a problem.
Please be sure to keep track of:
- Number of people you engaged with during the event
- Number of trash bags distributed
- Number of recycle bags distributed
